The 15th Annual Run to Home Base kicked off at Fenway Park in Boston this year, and the 5k included guests from United Veteran Benefits Agency. Merle Jones, Michael King, and Brittany Welts joined the race and assisted the team in fundraising over $6,000 for Veterans and their families.
The Run to Home Base is a growing event each year and in 2024, the organization raised over $3.3 million to support their mission and keep the care free of charge for Veterans, Service Members, their Families, and Families of the Fallen. The event itself is held at the country’s oldest ballpark, and offers runners and walkers the chance to cross the famed home-plate and touch the Green Monster!
The Home Base Program provides world-class healthcare and a multitude of different programs to fit the Veteran and their family’s needs, and determine the best route to healing the invisible wounds of war. “Their mission is complete. Ours has just begun.” HomeBase’s mission is clear, and the difference that they have made in the Veteran community is immense – since 2009, HomeBase has served more than 35,000 Veterans and their family members, and have trained over 85,000 clinicians across the nation to handle the specialty care that Veterans and their families require. HomeBase is devoted to providing life-saving clinical care to those who have served our country; these Veterans and family members are finally receiving the care that they deserve, free of charge, thanks to the incredible passion, insight, and devotion from this great organization.
Next year will be the 16th Annual Run to Home Base – participants can join in-person at Fenway Park, or can join virtually and every penny that is raised goes directly to HomeBase and saving lives.
